What is the plan for a positive Covid-test?
If there is a confirmed positive case in school
· Principal/Designee contact DOH and Complex Area Superintendent.
· Principal or designee will close or restrict access to the appropriate areas of the campus for cleaning and sanitizing.
· Principal or designee should collect contact information for those who might have been affected to provide to DOH.
· The COVID-19 Response Team will work with the principal/designee on messaging to the school community.
· DOH should be following up within 24 hours of the principal's initial call.
What are the triggers for allowing face to face learning? DOH website that shows “triggers.”
How many kids will be in my child’s class? This depends on grade level and square footage. It ranges between 5-9 with at least six feet of social distancing. Please ask your child’s teacher.
Will A+ be available? A+ will be available after 20 students are registered.
Will my child need to bring a device? At this time, K-1 does not need to bring a device.
Will adults be allowed to come onto campus? Adults will not be allowed at campus.
If I choose to come face-to-face, will there be a commitment to attend face-to-face for the whole quarter? There is not a commitment. If you would like to …
If I choose distance learning, can I switch to face-to-face? You will need to commit for one quarter. If you would like to attend face-to-face, you will need to wait until the next quarter and will need to give the office prior notice.
How will breakfast and lunch be distributed to students coming face-to-face? For now those students who will be coming to school receive a free breakfast the morning they attend school. Lunch is given to on campus students at 11:00am. All distance learning students receive “Grab & Go” breakfast and lunch starting at 11:15 am.
What are drop-off and pick-up procedures? (attach map) Our procedure is stop, drop, and go. Drop off will start by the cafeteria. Please do not let your child out of the vehicle until you have reached the designated drop off area. Pick up will in the field by F building by the coconut trees in the field. If your child is not by the coconut trees, please park by the basketball court and remain in your vehicle. Please loop back around and get back in line when you see your child/ren.
Is the bus service available? Bus service is available pending application and approval. Please call the office between 7:00-4:00 at 305-6650.
What are sanitization procedures? Children will need to wash their hands for 20 seconds several times a day, upon transitions such as, but not limited to: returning from recess, going to lunch, returning from lunch and recess. Children will also need to sanitize their materials and work space under teacher supervision at the end of the day with non-toxic materials. Children will be trained on sanitization procedures. Three times a week the classrooms will be sanitized by our custodian with Protexus.
What if my child is sick, but it’s not COVID? Keep your child at home and consult your doctor about when it is safe to return to school. It is highly encouraged that you provide a doctor’s note indicating it is safe to return to school. Your child can still participate in school through distance learning.
Will my child’s temperature be taken? Your child’s temperature will be taken when they first arrive on campus. We also do a health screening to check for symptoms including but not limited to coughing, difficulty breathing and runny nose. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more, your child will not be allowed on campus and will need to participate in virtual learning. Your child may return to school once his or her temperature is below 100 degrees for 24 hours without the use of medication.
What time can I drop off my child for face-to-face instruction? If your child is having breakfast, your child may arrive between 7:15-7:40. If your child is not having breakfast, drop off time will be 7:40. School will start at 7:50 for face-to-face instruction.
What time does school start for face-to-tace learners? From November 9-25: it will be 7:50-11:00. From 12:00-1:30 all students will be online during virtual learning. From November 30 to December 18, school will start at 7:50 and dismissal will be 1:30.
What is Virtual Wednesday? Grades 1-3 will attend virtual learning on Wednesdays from 8:00 to 11:00 and 12:00 to 12:40. Kindergarten will be the only class to attend face-to-face on Wednesdays.
Does my child need to wear a mask? Your child will need to wear a mask except when eating or drinking.
Can my child wear a shield instead of a mask? Your child may not wear a shield instead of a mask, but your child may wear a shield in addition to their mask.
Does my child need to wear a mask at recess? If your child is actively playing, your child does not need to wear a mask. If your child is sitting or not participating in physical activity, your child will need to wear a mask.
